About Mike

History

Tillamook native Mike Toth has spent the last 10 years traveling the United States learning the skills of tattooing, and in that short time has made himself one of the most highly sought after tattoo artists in the country. Mike began his career at 18 in Scottsdale, Ariz. Before relocating to Bend, Ore. and opening his first shop when he was only 21. Mike has been featured in countless magazines including Skin Deep, the world’s premier tattoo publication. After eight years in Bend as both a tattoo artist and world-renowned painter with a notable following that will travel to find him, Mike returned to his hometown to open Toth Art Collective. He still spends his days tattooing, painting and attending to his beautiful family.

Tattoos

Mike began his tattoo career as an apprentice in Scottsdale, Ariz. at the age of 18. By the time he was 21 he had his own studio in Bend, Ore. He’s traveled to conventions around the world, taking home Best of Show awards at numerous conventions and featured in several national tattoo magazines including Skin Deep and Tattooist, where he’s been praised countless times for his cleanliness and perfectionism – and for tattooing Matthew Fox from Lost. Mike takes tattooing seriously, viewing each piece as its own work of art. Nowadays he specializes in bigger pieces that on average take more than a year to complete. He’s usually booked a few months in advance, but appointments can be scheduled by calling his studio.

Art

After several years as a successful tattoo artist, Mike decided to pick up a paint brush and see what happened. Now his art, much like his tattoo work, is highly acclaimed and sells for upwards of $1,000. With no formal art training other than an art class in middle school, Mike found his inspiration in the various people, personalities, skepticisms and cultures that tattooing exposed him to. Using dynamic colors and edgy lines that are also indicative of his tattoos, Mike’s art could be described as somewhat mysterious, esoteric and a tad bit somber. The contrast of light and dark tones make each piece distinct, breathtaking and borderline revolutionary. Mike’s art is available for purchase both on his website and in his studio.
